Bill White (born 1945) is an American lawyer who served as Public Defender for Florida's Fourth Judicial Circuit, which covers Clay, Duval, and Nassau Counties. White was elected to the position in 2004, after serving as Chief Assistant Public Defender under his predecessor Lou Frost since 1976. White served as elected Public Defender from January 2005 to January 2009. ==Early life== White was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1945. Both parents were World War II Navy veterans, who met and settled in Jacksonville. White graduated from Englewood High School in 1963 and entered the University of Florida the same year. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1967, and entered the University of Florida College of Law. He left law school after one year, and joined the United States Navy, serving from 1968 to 1972, and returned to the University of Florida to conclude his legal studies at the Fredric G. Levin College of Law.
